Data Clean Rooms
Overview
Data Clean Rooms represent an advanced form of data collaboration in Snowflake. They allow multiple parties (such as brands, publishers, and partners) to join and analyze their respective datasets to derive insights without either party exposing their underlying personally identifiable information (PII) or raw data to the other. For the SnowPro Core certification, understanding the purpose and use cases of clean rooms is important.
Key Concepts
Privacy-Preserving Collaboration
The primary goal of a Data Clean Room is to enable joint analytics while preserving strict privacy and governance. Neither party can see the other's row-level raw data. The output of the clean room is typically aggregated insights or overlapping audience segments.
