Cross-Region and Cross-Cloud Sharing

Overview

Snowflake's architecture allows you to operate across multiple cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and across multiple geographic regions. However, standard Data Sharing is constrained to a single region within a single cloud provider. To share data with consumers in different regions or different clouds, Snowflake utilizes Database Replication. Understanding this mechanism is vital for the SnowPro Core exam.

Key Concepts

The Single-Region Constraint

By default, a Snowflake data share can only be consumed by accounts located in the same geographic region and on the same cloud platform as the provider account.
