Overview

Snowflake Data Sharing requires both the provider and the consumer to have a Snowflake account. However, organizations often need to share data with clients, partners, or vendors who do not use Snowflake. To solve this, Snowflake offers Reader Accounts. Understanding Reader Accounts is a standard requirement for the SnowPro Core exam.

A Reader Account (formerly known as a Share Consumer Account) is a special type of Snowflake account created and managed by a Data Provider on behalf of a Data Consumer. It allows non-Snowflake customers to query shared data.
